Dunnage
Yellowhead Wood Products manufactures plain and grooved lumber, known within the industry as dunnage. Dunnage is used at the base of a package in association with metal or plastic banding to create stable packaging for wood products being shipped throughout North America and beyond.
Maximum and minimum thicknesses, widths and lengths are manufactured according to buyers' specifications. Thickness varies from 1 1/2 inch to 2 1/8 inch.
Competitors typically supply only 1 1/2 inch dunnage. The advantages of our oversized dunnage are; easier handling due to greater fork clearance and reduced scuffing of finished lumber and damage to paper wrap.
Widths vary from 3 inch to 3 1/2 inch. Lengths are according to the needs of the client. We currently manufacture 41 inch, 42 inch, 43 inch, 44 inch, 46 inch, 47 inch, and 48 inch lengths. Our milled groove is 1 inch wide and 1/4 inch deep. A 3/8 inch radius edge is manufactured onto the grooved face to provide for reduced paper tear and easy end-loading of our customer's product into containers or vans.
